Former NFL Player, Republican Senate Candidate
Herschel Junior Walker (born March 3, 1962) is an American former football running back, bobsledder, mixed martial artist, and political figure who played in the NFL for 12 seasons. A Heisman Trophy winner at the University of Georgia, Walker is considered one of the greatest college football players of all time. After retiring from sports, Walker became a prominent supporter of Donald Trump, speaking at the 2016 and 2020 Republican National Conventions. In 2022, he ran as the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Georgia against incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock. Walker lost the election in a runoff. In November 2024, President-elect Trump announced his intention to nominate Walker as Ambassador to the Bahamas.
