Former MI6 Intelligence Officer, Author of Steele Dossier
Christopher David Steele (born June 24, 1964) is a British former intelligence officer with the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) from 1987 until his retirement in 2009. As an MI6 officer, Steele served in Moscow, Paris, and London, eventually heading the Russia Desk at MI6 Headquarters. After retiring, Steele founded Orbis Business Intelligence, a London-based corporate intelligence firm. In 2016, he was engaged by Fusion GPS to conduct research on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. This work produced the collection of memos known as the "Steele dossier" or "Trump-Russia dossier," which alleged various connections between the Trump campaign and Russian officials. Steele has defended his work as intelligence gathering rather than verified fact.
