Overview
Thom Tillis is an American politician and former management consultant who served as a United States Senator from North Carolina from 2015 until his retirement in January 2027. A Republican, he served as Speaker of the North Carolina House (2011-2015) before defeating incumbent Kay Hagan. Tillis gained prominence in 2026 by briefly blocking Trump's nomination of Kevin Warsh as Federal Reserve Chair over concerns about Fed independence. He announced June 2025 he would not seek re-election.
