Overview
Mitch McConnell has served as a U.S. Senator from Kentucky since 1985, making him the longest-serving Senate party leader in American history. McConnell played a pivotal role in both Trump impeachments. In the second impeachment (January 2021), McConnell voted to acquit on procedural grounds but delivered a scathing floor speech calling Trump "practically and morally responsible" for the January 6 attack. Despite his criticism, McConnell endorsed Trump in the 2024 election.
