Letitia "Tish" James (born October 18, 1958) is an American lawyer and politician who successfully prosecuted Donald Trump in a civil fraud case that resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in penalties. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she earned her undergraduate degree from Lehman College and her J.D. from Howard University School of Law. In September 2022, she filed a civil fraud lawsuit against Trump, his children, and the Trump Organization. In February 2024, Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that Trump had committed persistent fraud and ordered penalties of over $450 million.
