Kristi Noem is an American politician who served as the 8th United States Secretary of Homeland Security from January 2025 to early 2026. She previously served as the 33rd Governor of South Dakota from 2019 to 2025 and as U.S. Representative for South Dakota's at-large district from 2011 to 2019. She was confirmed 59-34 and led the administration's mass-deportation effort before being replaced by Senator Markwayne Mullin.
