Overview
Kevin M. Warsh is an American economist, lawyer, and former member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors (2006-2011). A former adviser to the George W. Bush administration and a lecturer at Stanford Graduate School of Business, he was nominated by President Trump in early 2026 to succeed Jerome Powell as Chair of the Federal Reserve. His confirmation was initially blocked by Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) over concerns about Fed independence; Tillis released his hold in late April 2026 after the Justice Department paused its investigation of Powell.
