Elizabeth Jean Carroll (born December 12, 1943) is an American journalist and author who successfully sued Donald Trump for sexual abuse and defamation, winning $88.3 million in damages. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she became best known as the author of the "Ask E. Jean" advice column for Elle magazine from 1993 to 2019. In June 2019, she published an excerpt from her book alleging that Trump had sexually assaulted her in a Bergdorf Goodman department store dressing room in the mid-1990s.
