Trump Indicted on 37 Federal Counts in Documents Case

A federal grand jury in Miami indicted Donald Trump on 37 felony counts related to his retention of classified national defense documents at Mar-a-Lago and efforts to obstruct their recovery. The charges included 31 counts under the Espionage Act for willful retention of national defense information, as well as obstruction and false statements charges. Co-defendant Walt Nauta, Trump's personal aide, was also indicted. The indictment represented the first federal criminal charges against a former U.S. president.
