Trump Pardons Nearly 1,600 January 6 Defendants

President Trump issued pardons to approximately 1,500 individuals charged in connection with the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack. The sweeping clemency action covered those convicted of assaulting police officers as well as less serious offenses. The administration framed the pardons as ending a "grave national injustice" perpetrated over the previous four years.
