William Pelham Barr

William Barr served as U.S. Attorney General under George H.W. Bush (1991-1993) and Donald Trump (2019-2020). His handling of the Mueller Report was widely criticized as misleading; his four-page summary letter was described by a federal judge as "distorted" and by Mueller himself as not fully capturing "the context, nature, and substance" of the investigation. Barr concluded Trump did not obstruct justice despite Mueller declining to make that determination. He resigned in December 2020 after stating the Justice Department found no evidence of election fraud that would change the outcome.
