Tom Barrack is an American private equity real estate investor and the founder of Colony Capital. He was a longtime friend and adviser to Donald Trump, serving as chairman of his inaugural committee. In 2022, he was charged with illegal lobbying on behalf of the United Arab Emirates. He was accused of using his access to Trump to advance UAE interests without registering as a foreign agent. He was acquitted of all charges in November 2022.
