Former Russian Ambassador to the United States
Sergey Kislyak is a Russian senior diplomat and politician who served as Ambassador of Russia to the United States from 2008 to 2017. He became central to the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election due to his contacts with Trump officials including Michael Flynn, Jeff Sessions, and Jared Kushner. His December 2016 calls with Flynn regarding U.S. sanctions led to Flynn's resignation and guilty plea. Since September 2017, he has represented Mordovia in the Federation Council.
