Julian Paul Assange

Julian Assange is an Australian editor, publisher, and activist who founded WikiLeaks in 2006. WikiLeaks published thousands of classified documents, including DNC emails in 2016 that U.S. intelligence agencies assessed were stolen by Russian operatives. Assange sought asylum in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London from 2012 to 2019 to avoid extradition. He was arrested in 2019 and has been in UK custody fighting extradition to the United States on espionage charges. In 2024, he reached a plea deal with U.S. prosecutors.
